We're trying not to look like every other bodybuilding and gaming sites. Remember this is home to several women strength trainers as well.

Then they can look at my avatar then, no? Or Wanderlei's, or anyone else with a picture of an athlete. I think Tuplad's was also of an athlete but not sure as I didn't look in detail and the picture is small but I think it may have been Kyra Gracie. Anyway, I'm not being argumentative so please don't do a Mehdi on me. I guess you have a point but from memory it wasn't naked or anything. Anyway, no biggie, just sayin'. Rules are rules.

Won't go medhi on you, but she was topless. Just keep the naughty bits covered (with more than just hands) and you should be OK.

Hi all,

Some of you might know me some of you may not. I still have the Gold membership but just after reading all 29 pages of this thread so far I was thinking about cancelling for a while. Its feeling quite empty over at SL, I feel like one of the more experienced people over there constantly reviewing video form checks, but I am an educator by trade so that satisfies me a little.

Just read a thread at SL recently where a certain very well known young but experienced and strong lifter was having a very hard time trying to convince one of the new guys to give up on the Idea of using a Smith Jones machine for squats, to the point where he sounded almost downright angry.

I think I'll follow excyclists lead and continue with the gold membership for about a year to see what happens with the SL community but right now its not looking that great.

I am a bit disappointed by Mehdi. Here's his reply to my request to cancel the membership and to revert my username, as I simply don't want my full name to be available to anyone:

Helm - if you want to cancel your Gold Membershp, read this:

http://strongliftsin...e.php?article=3

The Case AGAINST Missing The Next Issue Of the StrongLifts Gold Newsletter...

“I have actually decided against canceling my membership. I am strapped for money and thought I could cut down my expenses by canceling inner circle. I decided against it because it helps me remember I am not alone in my goals and lifestyle, and the newsletters are awesome. Stronglifts is the only fitness resource I use and trust. I also want to support you as much as I can, the knowledge you have is invaluable and I would actually feel guilty for NOT giving back. Keep doing what you're doing, I will most likely be a longtime member of the inner circle.” - StrongLifts Inner Circle Gold Member Brendan Fann

"But Mehdi, I'm not using any of this". Guess what? If you're SERIOUS about getting the kind of body and strength you want, you will make time to read the monthly Gold Newsletters, listen to the coaching calls and interviews, and implement all the tips and strategies. That's what us winners do.

Option #1 Another 30 Days of StrongLifts Inner Circle GOLD Membership for FREE

I'm willing to bet that if you stay one more month, you'll be a Member for life... and I'm so sure I'm willing to invest in you and your body by giving you one more month of Gold Membership for FREE with no strings attached. There's no trick, I really want to help you achieve your goal and believe that what I have here is the best thing you could ever find. Give me another 30 days to prove it to you, and if you still want to cancel after that, you're welcome to do so. So you can see that you got nothing to lose. Simply submit a ticket by going here and say you want another 30 days for free.

Option #2: Disconnect from the BEST Strength Training, Muscle Building And Fat Burning Resource on the planet

Quite bluntly, if you're serious about getting the kind of body and strength you always wanted then losing your best source of strength training, muscle building and fat burning strategies and real-life example from people who have successfully transformed their body would be the dumbest decision ever. Please carefully consider the consequences of cancelling your membership. Read Brendan's comments above: if you're trying to do it all alone, without trainingpartner, without anybody there to help you out and keep you accountable, it's very easy to fall of the bandwagon and then it's back to being fat, weak, out of shape and injured.

If you want to disconnect from the StrongLifts Inner Circle anyway, log in to your Paypal account and click "Profile" near the top of the page. Then go to "my money", click "update" in "my preapproved payments" and then click "cancel automatic billing". Your StrongLifts Inner Circle Membership will automatically be cancelled and you won't be charged again.

Your account will not be deleted, nor will username will be reverted.

Sounds more than a little pathetic. Funny that he won't remove any of the usernames, I guess if he did people wouldn't be too impressed with the membership total.

If Mehdi is not going to delete user accounts or revert full names back to usernames then I fail to see how the forum could ever be public again.

I think the reason he doesn't want the posts deleted is so that all the past information is not lost (i.e. from training logs to good discussions on varied topics).

In the last week or two I realized I've lost a lot of data, as I didn't document everything in my spreadsheets. If there's anyone with access to SL, is it possible to get a copy of my last training log? It would be much appreciated. I think it's called Bluestreak's 3rd Training Log. I used the same blue logo. First post should be explaining how I was recovering from pneumonia.

EDIT: I got my training log! Thank you peacad!

Ah, the crazy bastard. It's funny how every serious community with a leader ends up in some shithole. Last forum I was on, the guy turned hippie/Christian and used a kinesiology calibration method to define your consciousness - I got booted because I was "bad karma following him".

Today, he's broke, out of business and is asking a church to take him in to live.

Wow - worse than my cultish chiropractor! That is super super lame!

"Quit now and you will be weak forever!!! Are you sure you want to die weak and alone? You have been warned!"

And the ownership of everyone's posts - that is an interesting topic. I have no clue what the original agreement said.

Lame regardless.

Personally, I agree with everything that's been said here, but what really takes the cake for me is: "That's what us winners do." I mean, really?

Let's get real here: what does Mehdi offer that isn't available anywhere else? (Other than his own genuine talents as a promoter of himself and his program, that is.)

(Crickets.)

Still waiting...

Seriously, I'd like to thank Mehdi for three things: introducing me to the 5x5 strength training method, putting together a fantastic community of supportive and knowledgeable lifters, and then kicking us all out, so that we could form our OWN community without having to deal with this kind of self-aggrandizing, narcissistic bullshit.

Yep looks like nothing will be deleted. He sent a reply saying so.

He confirmed that my success story will be removed from the next stronglift 5x5 infomercial.

Well, half a loaf is better than nothing, I guess. Makes me wonder, though: how many "Success Stories" were eliminated in the Great Freeloader Purge of 2011 or left of their own accord shortly thereafter?

Hi guys---

Just to take the other side here, while I can understand that people do not want their names and images used to promote a commercial product that they do not endorse, I think that deleting all of your posts from Stronglifts really doesn't hurt anybody other than blameless users of the site looking for good information. I figure whether or not it helps Medhi is a wash - if he keeps the posts around, there is more and better information in his forum, but keeping the posts around is an acknowledgment that some knowledgable people left SL for whatever reason. But, for the typical user, it is nothing but helpful to let the old threads stay there.

The thing I find ironic about all this is that I ended up getting the boot from SL because I was complaining about threads being deleted. (Most significantly, panglossian's training log, which was very detailed and covered the transition from beginner to intermediate programming for a guy in his early 40s.) I asked James about it (possibly a mistake to assume he knew anything about it) and it didn't go well--- he seemed to think I had some ulterior motive for accessing PG's log. If PG had asked for his log to be deleted, I suppose I owe James and Medhi an apology.

He used to not allow people to edit posts so that it was obvious who started a flame war and it apparently made people more careful about what they posted. He wouldn't delete people's accounts or topics because they could be useful to other readers and he will probably point out this in the forum rules. It also saves him the trouble of actually writing articles himself. The only people who can read them are those who have paid for the privilege anyway.

That being said, using the results of people who he unceremoniously banned for absolutely nothing to promote his site is a complete disgrace. He should have thought about this before he spat his dummy out.

LSG, sorry to disappoint, but you're still on the SL forum, incl. all posts. Seems like you were simply banned/deactivated/kicked.

What upsets me is the fact the I was talked into changing my username to my real name by Mehdi on the phone, but he doesn't want to revert it. I don't mind my posts staying there, but I also don't think they'll be helpful for anybody. I personally wouldn't want to read some guy's training log from 3 years ago, without even being able to contact that person.

Also, my most recent post in my log, stating my desertion to IS, was simply deleted.

There were some threads on SL that had some good stuff in them (the Madcow versus TM thread comes to mind), and deleting all posts by defunct users would make an incomprehensible hash of those threads.
