Sounds like an allergic reaction. Not unheard-of. Do you have problems with any other corn-based food products?

Nope. Corn is fine, anything with corn gluten is fine, cornbread is fine...what else is made from corn? I've never tried drinking ethanol...

You might be allergic to one of the enzymes used to produce HFCS, or perhaps to the Aspergillus mold that is used in the initial fermentation process.

Fun fact: the alcohol you drink is ethanol. Corn-derived ethanol is an essential component of bourbon.

You know, in my mind I knew this...but I just thought it sounded funny. :facepalm:

About 75% of what I drink is whiskey...mostly bourbon. :P

I learned this by watching the reality show 'Moonshiners" also. They make their mash with corn, sugar, and something else I can't remember.

Went for a distillery tour a few years ago down in the Louisville/Frankfort (KY) area. Highly recommended! :)
